The latest research data make it clear that the global economy and the electronics market are hurting as a result of geopolitical troubles in parts of the world. But take a look first at the electronics industry fundamentals before hitting the panic button.

Inventories remain at reasonably low levels, and prices, though increasing, are not exorbitant — many companies are absorbing the increases rather than passing them on to end customers. Component supply constraints are limited; manufacturing facilities, following years of downsizing and closures, are performing at optimal levels. Corporate profits shrank in the second quarter but swollen coffers abound at manufacturers and suppliers; and more important, executives remain on high alert about the dangers of inventory excess or shortage. That's a sign of a healthy system, economists said.

Businesses have been able to increase their energy efficiency and absorb their higher material costs, given historically wide profit margins,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist at economy.com Inc. in West Chester, Pa.

Consumers have seen little in the way of pass-through.”

Don't let your guard down, however. The ESM Business Index came in at an eight-month low in June, plunging to 42.4 from 45.4 in May. Future moderate declines are on tap for the next couple of months, based on the performance of the forward-looking ESM Leading Index, which in June fell to 49.3 from 49.6 in May and 51.1 in April.

Electronics orders slid again in June, to 44.1 from 44.7 in May and 49.4 in April; export orders were flat at 40.7, propped up by the weak U.S. dollar. Inventories fell to 43.4 from 46.2; the quantity of purchased electronic materials declined to 45 from 48.3; production dropped to 44.4 from 45.3; and the employment index retreated nearly four points to 40.7, from 44.3. Prices rose, however, reaching 50 — the midpoint between expansion and contraction — for the first time since May 2004.

The DataSafe CX is designed for use in high rate, short duration discharge applications such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The number of plates, plate thickness and electrolyte reserve have been optimized to ensure maximum performance during short duration discharges. A large copper insert in the post is also used in the CX battery to enhance high rate performance.

The CC, CA and CX batteries have a 20-year life expectancy in float service at +25&degC. The PowerSafe CC and CA batteries have a nominal capacity range of 50 A-h to 200 A-h at the 8-hour rate while the DataSafe CX features discharge rates ranging from 0.204 kW/cell to 0.717 kW/cell (end voltage of 1.67 Vpc ). All posts and connectors are located above the cell cover, simplifying individual cell monitoring and inter-cell resistance measurements. Multi-cell construction minimizes floor space requirements.

The company provides a variety of installation services and preventative maintenance packages. Click here for the PowerSafe C's basic spec sheet, and here for the DataSafe C's. Pricing for PowerSafe C and DataSafe C batteries start at $333 per unit. Delivery is 4 to 6 weeks ARO.
