Integrated Silicon Solution, Inc announced high performance SRAM support for the Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGA family. ISSI's IS61LV25616AL-10T, a 10ns 4Mbit asynchronous SRAM, provides high performance, cost effective external memory for Spartan-3 FPGAs. As a Xilinx Reference Design Alliance Program member, ISSI and Xilinx are providing system designers with an outstanding price/performance solution.

System development for the Spartan-3, configured with two of the IS61LV25616AL-10T SRAMs for external memory, can be achieved using the Xilinx Spartan-3 Starter Kit (http://www.xilinx.com/products/spartan3/s3boards.htm). This is an easy to use, low-cost development system available from Xilinx for $99. The combination of the ISSI SRAMs provides 8Mbits of memory configured as 256Kx32.

The IS61LV25616AL-10T is a 4Mbit asynchronous SRAM organized as 256Kx16. The device operates at 3.3volts, has access times as fast as 10ns, is fabricated using 0.18m technology, and is offered in 44-pin TSOPII. The device is also offered in 48-pin mBGA and 44-pin SOJ packages. In addition to the 256Kx16 asynchronous SRAM, ISSI offers a variety of asynchronous SRAMs including 128Kx16, 512Kx16, 256Kx8, 512Kx8, 1Mx8, and others.

The device is available in both 10ns and 12ns versions. For quantities of 10,000, the IS61LV25616AL-10T, 10ns version in a 44-pin TSOP2 JEDEC standard package is priced at $3.00. The device is also offered in a 44-pin LQFP, 44-pin SOJ, and a 48-pin mBGA. Samples and production volume are available now.

Board-level computer maker Innovative Integration (Simi Valley, Calif.) is debuting a very powerful standalone DSP board called the SBC6713e . Packaged in a 160 x100-mm 3U form-factor, the SBC6713e is capable of completely autonomous DSP and networked operation. As such, it should find a home in high-end embedded control, remote data acquisition, industrial realtime sub-systems, and OEM instrumentation.

Dual TI DSPs

Packing a C-friendly Texas Instruments TMS320C6713 floating-point DSP, the SBC6713e single-board computer (SBC) features two open-architecture OMNIBUS I/O expansion sites that are compatible with more than fifteen off-the-shelf daughter cards.

For its part, the CS35000 BSA family itself combines broadband RF down-converters and wideband high dynamic-range A/D converters that operate at sample rates to 1.5-GHz. BSAs also offer up to 16 Gbytes of high speed memory to record and analyze, using DSP-based software.

The BSAs have instantaneous bandwidths of up to 600 MHz, and full bandwidth signal memory, for continuous signal recording of up to 13 seconds for a 4-Gbyte configuration. Pre-trigger record modes support full bandwidth recording while analyzing, enabling the capture of signals that occur prior to a trigger event.

Captured signals can also be analyzed without gaps over the entire recorded memory, or stored to hard disk, DVD disks, or to a new RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Devices) storage system (more on this in a moment).

BSA analysis software supports digital spectrum analysis and plotting, time-frequency (waterfall) plotting, time plotting, ACPR (adjacent channel power) measurements, digital signal measurements, and parametric data logging.

The BSA and BSG families offer up to 16 Gbytes of high-speed signal memory. The company claims that makes them the deepest memory instruments available today.
